The show show was inspired by my intense Shakespeare-nerdery. From the age of 10 to the age of 17 I went to Shakespeare camp every summer. I played Hamlet in high school. I took the Shakespeare and Company month long intensive when I graduated from college. I just fucking LOVE Shakespeare. I think it’s really emotionally rich and fun and visceral and sexy, much like burlesque. So, once I started doing burlesque, especially nerdy burlesque, it was only a matter of time before I put the two together. When I started getting glimpses of my fellow burlesquer’s acting chops and theatre backgrounds I decided it was time to showcase their more classical performing talents alongside their nightlife skills.
