DINGMANTICS! LIVE - Storytelling Series at 7pm
Sam Dingman hosts this monthly open-mic as part of his storytelling podcast “Dingmantics.” (samdingman.tumblr.com/dingmantics) Each month, four randomly-selected storytellers will take the stage, followed by a featured performer to close the show. All stories will be recorded for possible inclusion on the podcast, and every performer will take home a recording of their piece. Come share your antics with Dingmantics!
FOLKLURE - HOLIDAY HOOTENANNY! at 9 pm
FOLKLURE is a call to the toe-tapping, harmony-humming, string-strumming musicians who keep this city singing! Born out of the longing for a bygone era of collaboration and new creation, FOLKLURE offers a safe space for artists to share and be heard, where music can be made and rearranged and everyone’s along for the ride! Share a song at the Open Mic, sing along at the ALL TOGETHER NOW jam, and have a listen to some of the city’s best singer/songwriters in our Songwriter’s Circle! To kick off the new season, we’ll have two special guest performers (aren’t surprises the best?!) and this show will be BYOB! (Bring your own banjo)
VHS Presents TONIGHT at 7pm
Angel Yau takes us into the young minds of comedians, filmmakers, and storytellers by watching the videos they made as future struggling artists and telling the stories behind it before. From movie re-enactments to cable access shows to school projects to simply home videos. Each month, four storytellers get to show videos they worked hard on pre-youtube days and reflect on how they’ve grown today. Featuring TBA
NIGHT OF IMPROV
All 5 Disciplines TONIGHT at 9pm
Our very first Multi-Disciplinary Night of Improv! Leading through Lit, Music, Dance and Comedy, come see some of the city’s best strut their very talented, unscripted stuff! This is what we love to do and it’s why we love to do it! “The thing about improvisation is that it’s not about what you say. It’s listening to what other people say. It’s about what you hear.” -Paul Merton
