BRINGING ART TO THE PEOPLE, AFFORDABLY

1 note &

ON SALE NOW: New Works: “On / Off” with Holly Heidt & “excerpt hearts” with niv Acosta
“On/Off” is a collaboration between Holly Heidt (movement) and Asha Tamirisa (sound) with help from the dancers. The two became good friends and collaborators at  Oberlin College and are delighted to continue working with each other.  The piece is influenced by a joint fascination with minimalistic art  (along the lines of Sol Lewitt and Ellsworth Kelly) and by simple  actions and cycles in the physical world: clocks ticking, heartbeats,  spilled water, waves. An endless factory line. Sysiphus carrying his  rock up the hill again and again. Can certain experiences be seen as  circles? Pendulums? Sine curves? These examples suggest a continuity,  an alternation and repetition of elements. On the other hand, they may also suggest The End. Things and people come together and fall away.  There is separation and loss. Things break down beyond repair.Movement by Holly Heidt and sound by Asha TamirisaCostumes by Hannah RicheyPerformed by:  Liz Ball, Alyssa Caliendo, Emily D’Angelo, Joan E.
