Announcing: Chain Creation
Chain Creation is a new twist on the format of xyz, while still keeping the core mission of providing space for the creation of new dance works by artists who wouldn’t normally meet. Two groups of past xyz participants will each collaboratively create a new piece over the course of two months. There are several choreographic rules to follow. The series is called “chain creation” because each current participant will create a new rule and nominate a new artist for the following session, which will begin at the time of the current group’s culminating performance. The Rules for the first chain creation session are:1. Each member of the group must include something they can’t let go from childhood.2. Each member of the group must show off their weirdest non-dance skill.3. Your piece must include stolen art.4. Audience submitted rule! All audience members will submit a potential rule as they come in to the show on Sept 25, and the best one will become one of the rules for the session! (Come on, you didn’t think there would be an xyz show without some kind of contest, did you?)
Come to The Tank tonight to check out the xyc nyc show and witness the beginnings of Chain Creation!
xyz is BACK
We’ve had a wonderfully relaxing summer over at xyz, but now that it’s fall it’s time to get back into the swing of making quick and dirty dances.
Please join us for a Season Launch Party on Thurs, Sept 25th at 8pm.
Curious about that high-concept dance series xyz nyc? Well we’re bringing back some of our favorite pieces from last season, including “Wearing Medals, Bringing Rust” by Kit Stanley and “Adat” by Holly Heidt from February’s xyz show (The Olympics), Moriah McAda-Smith’s solo from April’s show (Peep Show), and the Championship Round-winning piece, “All American,” by Marc Andrew Nunez from May’s show (Times Square). Mingle with past xyz participants and ask questions as the show turns into a season-launch dance party. In addition, the cast of xyz’s new initiative, Chain Creation, will be announced.

This is happening tonight at The Tank! It’s sure to be incredible - check it out!
Brooklyn-based, Venezuelan-born Migguel Anggelo, returns to Joe’s Pub tonight with a brand new evening of theatrical music and poetic storytelling. A dynamic singer and dancer known for his electric stage performances , Anggelo cut his teeth in the worlds of musical theater and opera, and brings his larger-than-life emotions to this intimate performance. Backed by a group of virtuosic musicians, Migguel imagines the passions and struggles of great visual artists as a metaphor for the real life struggle of new and old immigrants striving to be heard. Through his original songs, reinterpreted works by Latin American greats like Agustin Lara and Astor Piazzolla, as well as American Pop Music, Migguel Anggelo shares a personal story that is as joyous and touching as it is unflinchingly honest.
